Los Angeles, CA – STXfilms has released character posters for the highly anticipated sequel, “Greenland 2: Migration,” offering a first look at Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis as they navigate a post-apocalyptic Earth. The film, directed by Ric Roman Waugh (“Angel Has Fallen”), picks up where the original “Greenland” left off, following the Garrity family’s desperate search for a new home after a devastating comet strike.
The official synopsis reveals: “In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the Earth, Greenland 2: Migration follows the Garrity family as they’re forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home.”
Butler and Baccarin reprise their roles as John and Allison Garrity, respectively, while Davis takes over the role of their son, Nathan. The cast also includes Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, and William Abadie.
The new posters feature individual shots of the main characters, set against a backdrop of comets hurtling towards the planet, hinting at the challenges and dangers they face.
“Greenland 2: Migration” was a highly sought-after project at the Cannes virtual market, with STX securing the film in a massive $75 million deal, including domestic and international rights. The original “Greenland” was distributed by STX, giving them a matching option to acquire the sequel.
The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee of Thunder Road Pictures, Anton’s Sébastien Raybaud and John Zois, G-BASE’s Butler and Alan Siegel, and CineMachine’s Brendon Boyea.
“Greenland 2: Migration” is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026.
