Kathmandu, December 25, 2025 – Nepalese authorities have apprehended three foreign nationals, including two Indian citizens and a Thai national, in separate incidents involving the possession of a significant quantity of cocaine. The arrests took place on Tuesday, December 24, 2025, in the Sinamangal area of Kathmandu.

According to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Xavier Mathew Thaliachery, 55, and Mursalen Hussain, 21, both Indian nationals, were arrested with 3.75 kilograms of cocaine. Hussain had arrived in Kathmandu from Laos via Singapore.

In a separate operation, Thai national Rusanee Kama, 40, was arrested at her hotel in Sinamangal with 550 grams of cocaine. Police recovered 12 plastic-coated capsules from her room and later discovered an additional 29 capsules she had attempted to swallow in an effort to evade arrest.

“Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths arrested her during a special operation at her hotel at Singmangal. The police have recovered 12 plastic coated capsules containing cocaine from her room.” a statement from the police read.

All three individuals have been taken into judicial custody under Nepal’s Narcotic Drugs Control Act 2033 B.S., following permission from the Kathmandu District Court.

The NCB is continuing its investigation into the matter.
