Man Arrested for Stalking and Sexually Assaulting Woman After Social Media Acquaintance
Bengaluru, India – December 24, 2025 – Jnanabharathi police have arrested a 29-year-old man, Naveen Kumar N., on charges of stalking, harassment, and sexual assault against a young woman he met through social media.
Police reports indicate that Naveen Kumar allegedly began pressuring the victim to enter a romantic relationship after connecting online. Despite her repeated rejections, he reportedly stalked her, followed her, verbally abused her, physically assaulted her, and issued threats.
The culmination of the alleged harassment occurred on Tuesday, December 23, at approximately 3:20 PM, when the suspect went to the victim’s PG accommodation and demanded she accept his proposal. Upon her refusal, he allegedly assaulted her, striking her on the head, back, and legs, tearing at her clothing, and sexually harassing her before fleeing.
Police swiftly apprehended Naveen Kumar, a resident of Billamaranahalli village, Yelahanka, within hours of registering the case. He is currently in custody.
The victim, traumatized by the ordeal, has vacated her PG accommodation. Investigators revealed she had moved several times in the past six months to escape the accused’s relentless harassment, forcing her to quit her job as a telecaller.
