Nation Remembers Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 101st Birth Anniversary
New Delhi – December 25, 2025 – Dignitaries from across India gathered at the ‘Sadaiv Atal’ memorial in New Delhi today to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 101st birth anniversary. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the commemorations, offering floral tributes and participating in a prayer ceremony.
Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Ministers including J P Nadda and Nirmala Sitharaman, along with other ministers, MPs, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and BJP working president Nitin Nabin were also present.
Prime Minister Modi lauded Vajpayee’s dedication to public service and nation-building, emphasizing that his life and work would continue to inspire future generations. He highlighted Vajpayee’s commitment to good governance and his role as a brilliant orator and poet.
Observed annually as Good Governance Day, Vajpayee’s birth anniversary saw commemorative events organized by the BJP across the country. Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and MPs participated in programs highlighting Vajpayee’s legacy.
Born in Gwalior in 1924, Vajpayee served as India’s 13th Prime Minister across three terms between 1996 and 2004. He is remembered for his significant contributions to India’s economic growth, his leadership during the Kargil War, and for establishing India as a nuclear weapons power. His distinguished parliamentary career spanned four decades, including nine terms in the Lok Sabha and two in the Rajya Sabha.
Vajpayee, a recipient of the Padma Vibhushan (1992) and Bharat Ratna (2015), was known for championing democratic ideals, women’s empowerment, and social equality. His tenure as Prime Minister saw a focus on infrastructure development, including national highways, rural roads, and expansion of the telecom sector.
