Chandigarh/Jaipur – December 25, 2025 – A severe cold wave is sweeping across northern India, with Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan bearing the brunt of the frigid conditions. Residents are struggling to cope with the plummeting temperatures as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts further dips in the coming days.

Rajasthan’s Fatehpur recorded the lowest temperature at a chilling 1.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday night. Other cities across the region also experienced significant drops.

The IMD predicts a further decrease of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days in northwest India, with cold wave conditions expected to persist in isolated areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand through December 27th.
