Visakhapatnam MLA Criticizes Lack of Consultation on Rushikonda Building Usage

Visakhapatnam, India – December 25, 2025 – Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju of the BJP is voicing strong disapproval over the Cabinet Sub-Committee’s decision-making process regarding the future of the palatial buildings constructed at Rushikonda during the previous YSRCP government’s term.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Raju stated that neither he, nor other elected public representatives from Visakhapatnam, were consulted by the committee before it announced its plans.

“The Sub-Committee did not hold any discussions with the local representatives,” Raju asserted. “I have checked with other representatives, and they too have not received any call. People are unhappy over the manner in which the committee is taking decisions on these buildings. The opinion of the people of Visakhapatnam must also be taken into account.”

Raju also expressed concerns over reports that the committee intends to recommend handing over the buildings to major hotel groups. He argued that this would restrict public access to the resorts, which were previously accessible to everyone. He emphasizes the need for community involvement in determining the best use for the Rushikonda buildings.
