Wed Dec 24 20:56:04 UTC 2025: ## Israeli Forces Accused of Violating Gaza Ceasefire, Killing One and Wounding Six

Gaza Strip – A fragile ceasefire in Gaza is under renewed strain following multiple incidents on Wednesday, with Palestinian officials accusing Israeli forces of violating the truce and killing one Palestinian man and wounding six others, including a child.

According to reports from the Palestinian Wafa news agency and Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Ayoub Abdel Ayesh Nasr was killed in Jabalia, northern Gaza, when Israeli forces opened fire on civilians. Three more individuals were reportedly wounded by gunfire east of Khan Younis, while a child sustained injuries in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

The Gaza Government Media Office condemned the incidents as “serious and systematic violations” of the ceasefire, claiming that Israeli forces have breached the agreement 875 times since it came into effect in October. They also highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, exacerbated by the limited flow of aid and the near collapse of the healthcare system.

The incidents follow a blast in Rafah, southern Gaza, which Israel claims injured one of its soldiers. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed retaliation, while Hamas denied responsibility, suggesting the explosive device was left behind by Israeli forces. Hamas reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire, stating the incident occurred in an area under Israeli control and warning about leftover explosives since the war.

Meanwhile, an Israeli delegation met with mediators in Cairo to discuss the return of the remains of an Israeli captive. Hamas has also been engaged in discussions, with a delegation meeting with Turkish officials in Ankara to address the ongoing ceasefire violations. Hamas maintains they have fulfilled their obligations under the agreement, but Israel’s actions are hindering progress towards the next phase. They also allege that a significant portion of the goods entering Gaza are commercial rather than humanitarian aid.

The incidents occur as Prime Minister Netanyahu prepares to meet with US President Donald Trump next week to discuss the next phase of Trump’s Gaza peace plan. The plan calls for a lasting peace, including Hamas disarmament and Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, conditions that remain heavily disputed.

Tensions remain high, casting doubt on the future of the already fragile ceasefire and the prospects for a lasting peace in the region.
