Dwayne Johnson Honors Robin Williams with Touching ‘Jumanji’ Easter Egg in Final Film
BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Dwayne Johnson is paying tribute to the late Robin Williams in the upcoming and final “Jumanji” movie, set to release on December 11, 2026. Johnson revealed the heartwarming behind-the-scenes detail at the Golden Globes First-Time Nominee Celebration on December 17th, where he discussed his desire to honor Williams, the star of the original 1995 film.
Johnson explained that he sought a meaningful way to pay his respects to Williams, who passed away in 2014. The solution came from costume designer Laura Jean Shannon, who suggested incorporating the original dice from the 1995 “Jumanji” movie. Johnson embraced the idea and wore the dice as a necklace throughout the filming of the fourth instalment of the “Jumanji” franchise.
In a November Instagram clip, Johnson shared his excitement. He stated that wearing the dice was his way of honoring Robin and this entire franchise that he started as we film our very last Jumanji”.
The 1995 “Jumanji” starred Williams as Alan, a man trapped in the magical board game for 26 years. Johnson joined the franchise in the 2017 reboot, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” alongside Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan. Hart, Gillan, and Black will all return for the final film alongside Johnson, per photos on the movie’s official Instagram.
