Gopal, the accused, was taken into custody by immigration officials on Monday night after arriving on a flight from China. The arrest was triggered by a Look-Out Circular (LOC) issued by the Chennai city police.

The incident occurred on January 30, 2025, when a 23-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by Gopal while walking to work in the Besant Nagar area of Chennai. According to police reports, Gopal offered her a ride, and when she refused, he assaulted her and fled the scene on a two-wheeler.

Following the incident, a case was registered at the Adyar All Women Police Station. Investigations revealed Gopal’s identity and that he had left the country. Authorities issued the LOC, alerting airports to his potential return.
