Ernakulam Electoral Roll Trimmed: Over 322,000 Names Removed in Draft Revision
KOCHI, INDIA – December 24, 2025 – The draft electoral roll for Ernakulam district, following a Special Intense Revision (SIR), has revealed the removal of 322,422 names. District Collector G. Priyanka presented the draft to political party representatives on Tuesday.
The draft now lists 2,330,643 voters, a significant reduction from the list published on October 27th. According to officials, the removals are attributed to various factors, including deceased voters (82,073), untraceable individuals (96,506), permanent relocation (89,067), duplicate entries (12,953), and those who refused to return enumeration forms (41,823).
Despite the large-scale removals, Collector Priyanka assured the public that no eligible voter would be disenfranchised. “Voting is the fundamental right of the people. The district administration is committed to ensuring that all eligible voters are included in the electoral roll,” she stated.
Those who believe they have been wrongly excluded have until January 22nd to file objections and submit Form 6 to request inclusion in the final electoral roll. The finalized roll is scheduled for publication on February 21st.
Furthermore, the Collector noted that 206,061 names in the draft could not be linked to the 2002 SIR roll, and special hearings will be conducted to resolve these cases. The district administration commended booth-level officers and other officials for their successful completion of the SIR process.
