Telangana Government to Construct Dedicated Buildings for Women’s Self-Help Groups

HYDERABAD, December 24, 2025 – The Telangana government has announced a significant initiative to empower women at the grassroots level by constructing dedicated buildings for Village Organizations (VOs) of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Federations at the Gram Panchayat level across the state.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) stated that these structures will serve as permanent platforms for women’s collectives, enabling them to function as hubs for self-employment and decision-making.

Each building will be constructed on 200 square yards with a plinth area of 552 sq. ft, at an estimated cost of ₹10 lakh per unit. The decision addresses long-standing demands from SHGs for permanent spaces to operate.

“Our aim is to provide respect, security, and confidence to women through these buildings,” Minister Seethakka said. Construction will be phased across all villages, starting with Gram Sabha resolutions and proposals routed through Mandal and District levels before approval by the District Collector.

The Panchayat Raj engineering staff will supervise construction, with a mandatory social audit to be conducted within six months of completion, utilizing MGNREGS funds. Minister Seethakka urged strict adherence to guidelines and timely execution to strengthen women’s groups across Telangana.
