Wed Dec 24 13:51:00 UTC 2025: ## News Article: Kerala Government Launches Initiative to Boost Farmer Incomes Through Agri-Business Partnerships
Kozhikode, India – December 24, 2025 – The Kerala State government today announced a new initiative under the World Bank-assisted KERA (Kerala Climate Resilient Agri-Value Chain Modernisation) project, aimed at improving farmer incomes and creating sustainable market linkages. The program invites agri-business companies to partner with Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) across the state, offering significant financial and technical support.
Under the initiative, eligible alliances can receive grants of up to ₹2 crore for production investment and business development. The program also includes three years of technical assistance. The goal is to connect Kerala’s high-quality agricultural products to local, national, and international markets, ensuring farmers receive fair prices and reliable market access.
The project plans to establish 150 productive alliances in three phases. The first phase will focus on the northern districts of Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram, with approximately 50 alliances.
To participate, agri-business companies must demonstrate an annual turnover of at least ₹10 crore and have prior experience working with farmer communities in Kerala. Farmer Producer Companies must have a minimum of three years of operational experience, a membership of at least 200 farmers, and an annual turnover of ₹10 lakh.
Government officials state that this initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize agricultural value chains in the state and promote climate-resilient practices. By fostering collaboration with the private sector, the government hopes to mitigate market risks for farmers and create scalable and sustainable models for agricultural partnerships.
Interested FPCs are encouraged to apply through the official KERA portal at https://pa.kera.kerala.gov.in/auth/login by December 31. Further details can be obtained from the KERA regional project director at 9037824054.
