Outrage in Odisha After 10-Year-Old Found Dead, Alleged Rape Sparks Protests
Bhadrak, Odisha – December 24, 2025 – A wave of anger and protest has erupted in the Baligaon area of Bhadrak district, Odisha, following the discovery of the body of a 10-year-old girl. Local authorities confirmed that the girl’s body was found near a bush on Tuesday evening, December 23rd, and that her family immediately filed a police complaint alleging rape and murder.
The discovery prompted locals to stage a road blockade demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the crime. According to the girl’s father, she had been missing since Tuesday evening, and the family suspects she was sexually assaulted before her death and her body was dumped in the bush.
Police are currently investigating the case, stating that the initial evidence strongly suggests sexual assault and murder. Senior police officials, including SDPO Trilochan Sethi, along with local administrative officers, have been deployed to Baligaon to manage the situation. One platoon of armed police force has also been deployed.
SDPO Sethi stated that the situation is currently under control. The investigation is ongoing.
