MIAMI, FL – Five-year-old Aluna Mackey, who is battling cystic fibrosis, recently had her dream come true thanks to Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, Zoo Miami, and animal expert Ron Magill. Aluna, from Poultney, Vermont, wished for a safari adventure at the zoo and an opportunity to learn about wild animals.
Aluna, accompanied by her parents and brother, enjoyed a VIP experience at Zoo Miami. The magical day allowed her to escape the realities of her medical treatments and enjoy precious time with her family. In addition to her zoo visit, the Mackey family also enjoyed a nearly week-long dream vacation in South Florida.
Make-A-Wish emphasized that the wish was more than just a treat; it was a vital respite from the challenges of Aluna’s illness, which has heavily impacted her and her family’s lives. The organization partners with community members like Magill and Zoo Miami to continue granting life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses.
