Pittsburgh Area Braces for Possible Icy Commute Tuesday After Brief Snow Showers
PITTSBURGH (CBS Pittsburgh) – Pittsburgh residents should be prepared for a potentially slick commute early Tuesday morning as a wintry mix is expected to hit the region.
The National Weather Service warns of a brief period of light freezing rain, particularly for areas east of the city. This follows a possibility of brief snow showers around 5-6 PM Monday, with little to no accumulation expected as temperatures hover above freezing.
“The key is timing and temperatures,” explained meteorologists. “If the ground is at or below freezing, the rain will freeze on contact, creating slick conditions.” Higher elevations may even experience a mix of snow showers.
