New Hampshire Braces for Snowy Conditions Ahead of Christmas; Travel Expected to be Hazardous
CONCORD, NH – New Hampshire residents should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility as a light to moderate snowfall is expected to blanket the state starting Tuesday afternoon and continuing into the evening. Temperatures will be cold to start the day.
While not a major storm, the accumulating snow is predicted to create hazardous travel conditions, particularly during the evening commute. The southern and far western parts of the state are expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow, with higher elevations potentially seeing up to 4 inches. The Lakes Region, White Mountains, and North Country could see accumulations of 3 to 6 inches.
The storm is expected to strengthen offshore Tuesday night, bringing an additional inch or two of snow to portions of the White Mountains by Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon will bring drier conditions and seasonably cold temperatures.
Christmas Day is forecast to be partly sunny with a chance of snow showers in the mountains and a possible flurry farther south. Another weather system could bring snow or a wintry mix to the state on Sunday.
Residents are urged to stay weather aware. Download the WMUR app for up-to-the-minute forecasts and alerts for your area. Exercise caution while driving and allow for extra travel time.
