Tue Dec 23 16:12:18 UTC 2025: Bengaluru Police Revamp New Year’s Eve Security with Motorcycle Patrols and Advanced Surveillance

Bengaluru, December 23, 2025 – In preparation for New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Bengaluru Police Department has announced enhanced security measures focused on rapid response and heightened surveillance. Citing traffic congestion as a major impediment to timely intervention, Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh revealed that the department will significantly increase motorcycle patrols in place of traditional four-wheeled vehicles.

“Hoysala patrolling vehicles have often faced delays in reaching incident spots due to heavy traffic, especially in crowded areas,” Singh explained. “The increased use of motorcycles will allow our officers to manoeuvre through congested roads more efficiently, ensuring a quicker response time.”

In addition to increased motorcycle patrols, officials have been instructed to strategically station patrolling vehicles and augment foot patrols in sensitive and crowded areas. The Chennamma Pade, an all-women police force, has also been enlisted to patrol public spaces, focusing on identifying potential troublemakers and ensuring the safety of women.

Furthermore, the city police are deploying state-of-the-art CCTV cameras capable of detecting smoke and fire. These cameras, linked to the central command centre, will provide real-time monitoring of the city and enable effective coordination between command staff and officers on the ground. The cameras are expected to be fully operational after the given deadline.

These comprehensive security measures are aimed at ensuring a safe and secure New Year’s Eve celebration for all residents and visitors of Bengaluru.
