Young Pacer Kranti Gaud Shines as India Restricts Sri Lanka in 1st T20I

Visakhapatnam, December 21, 2024 – Indian women’s cricket team’s 22-year-old pacer Kranti Gaud made a memorable impact during the first T20I against Sri Lanka at the ADA-VDCA Stadium on Sunday. Gaud, in her spell, bowled 3 overs and gave away 23 runs and taking 1 wicket.

Gaud’s breakthrough came during the powerplay when she delivered a spectacular inswinger that clean bowled Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu. The delivery, pitched outside off stump, swung sharply back to crash into the stumps, sending Athapaththu back to the pavilion after a brisk 15 off 12 balls. The video of the dismissal quickly went viral on social media.

India won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka managed to score 121 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. India now needs 122 runs to win.
