Dubai, UAE – India U19 are in a commanding position against Sri Lanka U19 in the first semi-final of the Under-19 Asia Cup being held in Dubai. After a five-hour rain delay that shortened the match to 20 overs per side, India captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that quickly paid dividends.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka U19 are struggling at 104/6 after 16 overs. All-rounder Kanishk Chouhan, recently acquired by RCB in the IPL 2026 auction, struck a crucial blow, taking two wickets in a single over to further destabilize the Sri Lankan innings.

Vedant Trivedi, an 18-year-old, has also shone, contributing a run-out and a spectacular catch to the Indian effort.

India U19 entered the semi-final with momentum, having topped Group A with convincing victories against Pakistan, UAE, and Malaysia. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, finished second in Group B and are now facing an uphill battle to reach the final. The winner of this match will advance to face the winner of the second semi-final. Stay tuned for more updates.
