Chakravarthy Fine-Tunes World Cup Prep: Mental Fortitude and Lengths Key

Ahmedabad – December 19, 2025 – Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy is gearing up for the T20 World Cup by concentrating on maintaining confidence, bowling accurate lengths, and constantly pushing himself mentally. With the tournament scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, Chakravarthy recognizes the need to fine-tune his game.

The 34-year-old, who has already secured 51 wickets in 32 T20Is, emphasized the importance of creating pressure and challenges, even in seemingly straightforward matches. “You have to challenge yourself even when there is no challenge. If a match feels easy, you have to create that pressure mentally and start challenging yourself,” Chakravarthy stated on Jiohotstar’s ‘Follow The Blues’.

Chakravarthy is aiming to improve his knowledge of his opponents in order to do better during the tournament. He underlined sticking to basics and confidence in one’s skills as crucial for success at the international level. His performance in the ongoing five-match series against South Africa, where he has already claimed six wickets in the first three games, reflects this approach.

“My plan is simple, stick to the basics and bowl my length. Sometimes it works, and thankfully in the last three matches, it has worked well. I will try the same in the next match,” he said.

The final T20I between India and South Africa is set to take place later today.
