Reiner Children Release Statement After Brother Charged in Parents’ Murder
LOS ANGELES, CA – Jake and Romy Reiner, children of the late Rob and Michele Singer Reiner, have released a statement requesting “respect and privacy” following the arraignment of their brother, Nick Reiner, in connection with their parents’ deaths. Rob Reiner, 78, a renowned actor and filmmaker, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found fatally stabbed in their Los Angeles home on Sunday night.
Authorities apprehended Nick Reiner, 32, shortly after the discovery of the bodies in University Park. He is now facing two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstance allegations, including multiple murders and the use of a deadly weapon. Nick Reiner did not enter a plea during his brief court appearance, and his arraignment has been postponed to January 7th.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” Jake and Romy Reiner said in their statement. “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents…is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
The siblings expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received from family, friends, and the public. However, they emphasized the need for privacy during this difficult time. “We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
Nick Reiner’s defense attorney, Alan Jackson, addressed the press, stating, “There are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case.” He urged the public to allow the legal system to proceed with due process, cautioning against premature conclusions. “We ask that during this process, you allow the system to move forward…not with jumping to conclusions, but with restraint and with dignity and with the respect that this system and this process deserves and that the family deserves.”
The investigation is ongoing.
