First Look: Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ Unveils Star-Studded Cast and Epic Vision

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Universal Pictures has released exclusive images from Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of Homer’s “The Odyssey,” revealing a star-studded cast and glimpses of the film’s breathtaking scale. The movie, slated for a July 17, 2026, theatrical release, promises a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.

Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca on his perilous ten-year journey home after the Trojan War. Anne Hathaway reunites with Nolan to play Odysseus’s wife, Penelope, who must fend off persistent suitors. Tom Holland stars as their son, Telemachus, who embarks on his own quest to discover his father’s fate.

The exclusive images also reveal Himesh Patel as Eurylochus, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous. The movie also stars Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Elliot Page, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, and Will Yun Lee.

Audiences who saw select IMAX movies this summer and fall were treated to a sneak peek, showcasing flashes of Odysseus, Telemachus, and a shadowy figure played by Bernthal, hinting at the story’s complex web of relationships.

Nolan also wrote the screenplay and is producing with his wife, Emma Thomas.

“The Odyssey” hits theaters July 17, 2026.
