India Posts Mammoth Total Against South Africa in Series Decider
Ahmedabad, India – India’s batting lineup exploded in the fifth and final T20I against South Africa in Ahmedabad, setting a formidable target of 231/5. Hardik Pandya led the charge with a blistering knock of 63 off just 25 balls, including the second-fastest half-century by an Indian in T20Is (16 balls). Tilak Varma continued his impressive form, scoring a well-paced half-century, while openers Abhishek Sharma (34) and Sanju Samson (37) provided a rapid start.
South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that backfired as the Indian batsmen took control. Suryakumar Yadav, however, continued his lean patch with a low score of 5.
In response, South Africa started aggressively with Quinton de Kock leading the charge. De Kock got to 47 off 26 deliveries during the powerplay and was assisted by Reeza Hendricks(12 off 10). At the end of the powerplay, the Proteas were sitting at 67/0.
India made a few changes to the playing XI, with Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar returning, while Sanju Samson replaced Shubman Gill, who suffered a foot injury.
With the series currently at 2-1 in favor of India, South Africa faces a steep chase to level the series.
