ESIC Issues Registration Deadline for Employers in Southern Tamil Nadu
TIRUNELVELI, December 19, 2025 – The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is urging employers across Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanniyakumari districts to register their firms and employees under the Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees (SPREE) by December 31st.
Speaking to reporters today, Joint Director of ESIC, Tirunelveli, Bhaskar, stated that while 600 new business establishments have already enrolled, approximately 300 more are lagging behind. Mr. Bhaskar warned that non-compliant businesses will face significant consequences if they fail to register before the deadline.
The ESIC is particularly focused on ensuring registration for workers in hazardous environments, including firecracker manufacturing units, fuel stations, and rubber plantations. According to Mr. Bhaskar, some rubber plantation managements have been neglecting their obligation to register their workers.
“It is imperative that employers prioritize the well-being of their workforce by ensuring their enrollment in the ESIC scheme,” stated Mr. Bhaskar.
The ESIC also provided an update on healthcare infrastructure, announcing the completion of a 100-bedded ESIC hospital in Thoothukudi, with plans underway for a similar facility in Kanniyakumari district.
