Family of Four Found Dead in Srirangam Yatri Nivas; Suspected Suicide
TIRUCHI, INDIA – DECEMBER 19, 2025 – A tragic discovery was made at Yatri Nivas in Srirangam today, as the bodies of four family members were found deceased in a state of decomposition. Authorities have identified the victims as T. Swaminathan, 67, his wife S. Senbagavalli, 64, and their two daughters, Bhavani, 41, and Jeeva, 35. All were residents of Thiruvaiyaru taluk in Thanjavur district.
According to police reports, Swaminathan had booked a room at Yatri Nivas several days prior, accompanied by his wife and two daughters, who were reported to be unmarried and suffering from mental illness.
The grim discovery occurred when a Yatri Nivas employee detected a strong odor emanating from the family’s room. Upon forcing entry, police found the four bodies inside. A note, believed to be penned by Swaminathan, was recovered, detailing the parents’ despair over their daughters’ future and their own declining health. This has led authorities to suspect a suicide pact as the cause of death.
The remains have been transported to the Government Hospital in Srirangam for post-mortem examination. The Srirangam police are currently conducting a thorough investigation.
