Parkinson’s Surge Fuels Rams’ Dominant Run Game, Eyes Franchise Record

LOS ANGELES, CA – Tight end Colby Parkinson is experiencing a career resurgence, leading to a significant boost for the Los Angeles Rams’ offense and a possible franchise record. After scoring only six touchdowns in his first 77 games, Parkinson has exploded for six scores in the last six weeks. This impressive streak includes a two-touchdown performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 15.

Now, all eyes are on Thursday night’s game against his former team, the Seattle Seahawks, where a single touchdown catch would crown him the Rams’ single-season touchdown leader for a tight end.

“He goes to work, both in the meeting room and the practice field, as well as anyone we have on this squad,” said Rams Offensive Coordinator Mike LaFleur. “He’s a Ram through and through. I couldn’t be happier for his individual success, which is leading to a lot of the stuff that we’ve been able to do offensively.”

While the tight end group’s receiving numbers are noteworthy – 79 catches, 806 yards, and 12 touchdowns – their impact on the Rams’ league-leading rushing attack is equally vital. With Kyren Williams and Blake Corum both scoring in the last three games and the Rams rushing for over 150 yards in each of those contests, the running game is thriving.

“It’s all about running the ball first,” Parkinson explained. “As a tight end room, that’s really where we can make our mark, and that’s what we take pride in. Run game and pass protection. If we do those things well, I think the Rams are going to be doing alright.”

General Manager Les Snead emphasized the tight ends’ overall contribution, noting, “You can tell that tight end meeting room is having a lot of fun making contributions to this team and not just in the pass game, but blocking in the run game.”

As the Rams prepare for their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Seahawks in Seattle, they face not only a divisional rival but also a crucial game with NFC playoff seeding implications. The team is monitoring injury updates on Davante Adams, Tyler Higbee, and Rob Havenstein. Additionally, the forecast anticipates potentially rainy conditions, which could further emphasize the importance of the Rams’ dominant ground game.

The Rams face the Seahawks on Thursday, December 18.
