Captain America Returns in “Avengers: Doomsday” – As a Dad!
HOLLYWOOD, CA – Marvel Studios has sent shockwaves through the fan community with the release of the first teaser trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday,” revealing the return of Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, portrayed by Chris Evans. The film is slated for release on December 18, 2026.
The teaser, attached to screenings of “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” depicts a serene domestic scene: Rogers, seemingly retired, pulls out his helmet. In a surprising twist, the closing scene shows him holding a newborn baby, leaving audiences buzzing with questions.
The development marks a dramatic shift for the character last seen in “Avengers: Endgame,” where an elderly Steve Rogers passed the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson. This has fans speculating about the how, the when, and most importantly, the who surrounding Cap’s new family. Is this the same Steve Rogers, a variant, or a product of time-travel shenanigans? And could the baby possess superhuman abilities?
Evans’ reprisal isn’t the only major return for “Doomsday.” Robert Downey Jr. is also set to appear, taking on the role of the iconic villain, Doctor Doom. This Multiverse Avengers Movie will unite almost every character that has been a part of marvel’s story, including the X-Men.
Along with the aforementioned, Other returning heroes include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Simu Liu, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Lewis Pullman. From the “X-Men” universe, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum and Rebecca Romijn will cross over into the MCU.
Marvel is expected to release additional character-focused teasers in the coming weeks. A countdown clock at the end of the teaser reminds fans that “Avengers: Doomsday” is just one year away.
