Hyderabad, December 19, 2025 – Hyderabad is poised to transform its nightlife with the launch of the Night Time Economy (NTE) initiative in January, aiming to create designated 24/7 commercial zones across the city. The Telangana government hopes to boost the local economy by removing bureaucratic hurdles and encouraging businesses to operate late into the night.
Currently, Hyderabad’s nightlife thrives unofficially, with businesses often navigating a complex system of permits and licenses. The NTE initiative promises a zone-based approach, allowing businesses within designated areas, including Old City, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad, to operate around the clock without the need for individual approvals.
The policy prioritizes areas with high economic density and existing nighttime activity, such as HiTec City and Financial District. Projections estimate the NTE could grow Hyderabad’s economy from ₹8,500 crore to ₹26,011 crore by 2032, generating 2.1-2.4 lakh jobs.
To ensure the success of the initiative, the city will appoint a “Night Czar” to coordinate activities and minimize government interference. Plans also include improvements in urban design, sanitation, extended public transportation hours, and enhanced safety measures like Pink Patrols and smart lighting.
While challenges like hygiene and waste disposal remain, the initiative aims to address them through dedicated resources and infrastructure improvements. As midnight approaches, Hyderabad looks forward to a future where “last orders” become a distant memory, embracing a vibrant and thriving 24/7 economy.
