SRMIST Partners with Pon Pure Chemicals to Establish Oil-Field Chemical Lab

CHENNAI, December 18, 2025 – SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has announced a new partnership with Pon Pure Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, to establish a joint laboratory dedicated to the development and testing of oil-field chemical products, specifically drilling fluids and related formulations.

The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will result in the SRMIST–Pon Pure Chemicals Lab, located on the SRMIST main campus. This joint facility aims to facilitate a seamless integration of academic research and real-world industrial applications within the oil and gas sector.

Beyond the research facility, SRMIST plans to introduce a range of certificate, diploma, and degree programs tailored to meet the industry’s evolving demands, including specialised courses in mud engineering. This initiative demonstrates SRMIST’s commitment to providing students with relevant skills and knowledge necessary for success in the field.

This partnership marks a significant step towards advancing research and development in the oil and gas sector while fostering a closer relationship between academia and industry.
