“Awaara Nahi, Hamaara Hai”: Calendar Celebrates Compassion for India’s Stray Animals
Chennai, December 18, 2025 – In a heartfelt tribute to the bond between humans and stray animals, pet photography company Pawparazzi has launched “The Indie Calendar 2026 – Awaara nahi, humara hain” (“They are not strays, they are ours”). The calendar features twelve touching stories and stunning photographs showcasing the kindness and dedication of individuals caring for stray dogs and cats across India.
Inspired by the recent “Awara nahin, hamaara hai” movement, which protests the Supreme Court’s verdict on stray dogs, the calendar aims to raise awareness about the plight of “indies” (Indian stray animals) and encourage their adoption.
“This year’s calendar is different,” says Prathima Pingali, founder of Pawparazzi. “We wanted to highlight the revolution and the love people have for these animals.”
The calendar spotlights individuals who, despite limited resources, open their hearts and homes to provide food, shelter, and affection to these often-overlooked creatures. The initiative received over 50 submissions from across the country. The selected stories originate from Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Baindur, and Kochi.
The calendar, designed by creative agency Homegrown, emphasizes the human-animal connection. A photograph of 10-year-old Mani, a beloved Chennai street dog often seen hitching a ride with newspaper collector Pandian, is just one example of the heartwarming tales featured.
“Apart from featuring stories, we also thank these individuals to highlight the fact that if they can be so loving and open, what is stopping us from doing so? Why are we running after breeds? Why aren’t we giving enough love to our Indies?” Pingali explains.
The desk calendar is priced at ₹899, and the wall calendar is available for ₹1199 at http://www.pawparazzi.com. This calendar is a beautiful reminder of the love and compassion that exists within Indian communities for their often-forgotten, four-legged residents.
