Thu Dec 18 14:57:02 UTC 2025: Hyderabad, December 18, 2025 – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy addressed recent controversies surrounding his attendance at a Lionel Messi football match and ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Mr. Reddy clarified that his presence at the Messi match in Hyderabad was in a purely personal capacity as a guest. He firmly denied any government funds were used for the event, stating that it was financed through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds released by Singareni Collieries Company Limited for promotional activities, as per the Singareni Board’s decision. He also stated he brought his grandson in hopes of motivating him to become a sportsperson.
Regarding the Formula E race case, the Chief Minister assured that the government would adhere to established rules and procedures. He explained that permission is needed to question senior officer Arvind Kumar and the state has requested this of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) twice. He stated, “Once approval is received, the investigation will move forward. At present, only permissions related to KTR have come.”
The Chief Minister also addressed concerns regarding irregularities in the employment of contract and outsourcing employees. He revealed that investigations have uncovered several fake Aadhaar documents and that a full inquiry has been ordered into all such cases.
