Karnataka’s Cultural Heritage Celebrated in Student Art Exhibition

Bangalore, December 18, 2025 – The Indian Institute of World Culture (IIWC) is set to host “Karnataka – Celebration of the State’s Cultural Tapestry,” an art exhibition showcasing the talents of 60 students from Pratibha Academy in Banashankari. The exhibition, opening tomorrow and running through December 21st, features nearly 100 artworks created over the past four months, dedicated to the celebration of Karnataka Rajyothsava.

“Our students have dedicated their free time to this project, and we are thrilled to share their artistic interpretations of Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage,” said Prithvi Prabhu, art educator at Pratibha Academy.

The exhibition boasts a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums, including colour pencils, oil pastels, graphite, and charcoal. Notably, the collection features portraits of prominent figures from Karnataka’s history, literature, and arts, including Mysore Vasudevacharya, Raja Ravi Varma, and iconic actors such as Rajkumar and Kalpana. Landscapes depicting the state’s natural beauty are also prominent.

Founded in 1962 by freedom fighters Ahalya Bai and Navaratna Raghavendra Rao, Pratibha Academy has a long-standing commitment to inclusive education. “We aim to blend traditional values with modern teaching methods,” stated Deepti Navaratna, head of Pratibha Academy. “Our approach, rooted in neuroscience, seeks to foster a holistic learning environment encompassing academics, life skills, art, and sports.”

The exhibition is free to the public and offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the vibrant cultural tapestry of Karnataka through the eyes of its young artists. The Indian Institute of World Culture is located in Basavanagudi.
