Goa Nightclub Owners Deported from Thailand, Face Interrogation in Deadly Fire Case
Panaji, December 17, 2025: Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, the owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, have been deported from Thailand and brought back to India to face interrogation in connection with the devastating December 6th fire that claimed the lives of 25 people.
The Luthra brothers were apprehended in Delhi on Tuesday after being deported from Phuket, Thailand, where they had fled hours after the tragic incident. A Goa Police team transported them to Goa today, landing at the Manohar International Airport in Mopa at 10:45 a.m.
Authorities suspect the Luthra’s are guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The duo will be taken to the Anjuna police station for questioning and are expected to be presented before a court in Mapusa for remand. Their apprehension followed an Interpol Blue Corner Notice and passport cancellation after they fled to Thailand. Indian authorities coordinated with Thai officials to facilitate their deportation under existing legal treaties. Five managers and staff members of the nightclub have already been arrested in connection with the fire. The Goa Police investigation into the incident continues.
