Wed Dec 17 03:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Hugh Jackman Earns Sleepover and Karaoke with Neil Diamond After Emotional Phone Call
New York, NY – Hugh Jackman’s upcoming role as one half of a Neil Diamond tribute band in the film “Song Sung Blue” led to an unexpected and heartwarming connection with the legendary singer-songwriter himself. Following an emotional phone call sparked by Diamond’s positive reaction to the film, Jackman scored an invitation to Diamond’s Colorado home, resulting in a memorable sleepover and even a karaoke session.
At a recent screening of “Song Sung Blue” in New York City, Jackman revealed that Diamond, moved by the movie and its portrayal of Mike and Claire’s story, personally reached out to him. Diamond even granted full access to his music catalog for the film, marking the first time he’s given such permission for a movie.
“He was crying on the call,” Jackman said, recalling the emotional conversation. Seizing the opportunity, the actor playfully invited himself over for tea. Diamond, who lives in Colorado, surprisingly extended the invitation to an overnight stay.
The sleepover proved to be a night to remember, with Jackman and Diamond enjoying karaoke, including renditions of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and, of course, “Sweet Caroline.” In a humorous moment, Diamond even sang “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables, seemingly unaware that Jackman starred in the film adaptation.
“Song Sung Blue,” also starring Kate Hudson, arrives in theaters on December 25th. Hudson also had the opportunity to meet Diamond at his Colorado home, but the actor confessed to being “jealous” of Jackman’s overnight karaoke party with the living legend.
