Los Angeles, CA – Four members of a left-wing, anti-government group have been arrested in California for allegedly plotting to bomb immigration agents and companies, according to federal authorities. The suspects, identified as Audrey Illeene Carroll, 30; Zachary Aaron Page, 32; Dante Gaffield, 24; and Tina Lai, 41, all from the Los Angeles area, are accused of being part of the “Turtle Island Liberation Front,” a pro-Palestine, anti-capitalist organization.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the arrests, calling it “a massive and horrific terror plot” that was disrupted by the Justice Department and the FBI. According to officials, the group planned a series of bombings to begin on New Year’s Eve, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and vehicles specifically targeted.

First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli revealed that Carroll allegedly created a detailed plan to bomb multiple locations, including two “Amazon-type” logistics centers in the Los Angeles area. The suspects allegedly intended to leave backpacks filled with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at these locations, timed to detonate simultaneously at midnight on New Year’s Eve, hoping the explosions would be masked by fireworks.

Authorities arrested the suspects in the Mojave Desert while they were allegedly working on the plot. While the group was apprehended before they could construct a functional bomb, officials presented surveillance footage showing the suspects moving a large object.

The “Turtle Island Liberation Front” describes itself as advocating for the “Liberation of occupied Turtle Island and liberation of all colonized peoples across the world,” referencing the Indigenous term for North America. Activists associated with the group have previously organized campaigns against ICE detentions and deportations.

The suspects are charged with conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device. Officials anticipate further charges will be filed. Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell emphasized the collaboration between federal and local officials in protecting residents, despite differing views on immigration enforcement.
