Providence, Rhode Island – December 16, 2025 – The search for the gunman responsible for the deadly shooting at Brown University on Saturday, December 13, has intensified, with authorities releasing new video footage and offering a $50,000 reward for information. The attack, which occurred in a classroom where students were studying for finals, left two students dead and nine others wounded.
Police Chief Oscar Perez urged the public to assist in identifying the suspect, described as a man of average height (5’8″) with a stocky build, seen in video wearing a mask and dark jacket. The FBI is assisting in the investigation.
The victims have been identified as Ella Cook, a 19-year-old sophomore known for her leadership in the Brown College Republicans, and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an 18-year-old freshman studying biochemistry and neuroscience. Nine others remain hospitalized, with one in critical condition.
The shooting has raised concerns about campus security, prompting increased vigilance at colleges and universities across Rhode Island and the Ivy League. Investigators are still working to determine how the shooter gained access to the building. The lockdown order has been lifted from Brown University on Sunday, and classes are scheduled to be held today.
