IPL 2026 Mini-Auction: Experts Predict Bidding Wars for Emerging Talent
Mumbai, India – As the TATA IPL 2026 mini-auction rapidly approaches, all franchises are looking to bolster their line-ups with a blend of proven stars and exciting uncapped players. Ahead of the event, experts have shared their insights on who to watch out for.
Speaking on JioHotstar, JioStar expert Aakash Chopra highlighted Kartik Sharma, a middle-order batsman with the ability to hit big sixes. “Very few Indian players can bat at No. 5, 6 or 7 and hit big sixes consistently, and Kartik Sharma clearly has that ability… I believe he could be one of the most expensive uncapped Indians.”
Irfan Pathan focused on fast bowlers, suggesting that Matheesha Pathirana, Gerald Coetzee and Ashok Sharma could trigger fierce bidding wars. Pathan noted Coetzee’s all-round value, adding “not just for his bowling, but he can also bat down at No. 8, which adds balance.”
Mohammad Kaif predicted that Cameron Green would be a prime target for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), saying that “With Cameron Green available, I think KKR will go all out — money will dominate their bid, and they need a replacement for Russell, so he’s the best fit”.
Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara believes that Ravi Bishnoi could emerge as the most expensive Indian player in the auction, citing the high demand for quality spinners.
Sanjay Bangar identified Naman Tiwari and Shubham Agarwal as uncapped players to watch. Bangar highlighted Tiwari’s ability with the ball and Agarwal’s experience as a leg-spinner.
The TATA IPL 2026 mini-auction takes place today, December 16, starting at 2:30 PM and will be broadcast LIVE on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network.
