Powerball Jackpot Soars to $1.25 Billion; Three Winning Tickets Sold in Ohio
CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Powerball frenzy is building as the jackpot skyrockets to an estimated $1.25 billion for Wednesday night’s drawing. Lottery officials confirmed that no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday night’s drawing, resulting in the massive prize – the second-largest Powerball jackpot this year.
While no one snagged the grand prize, lucky players in Arizona and California each won $1 million by matching all five white balls. In addition, the drawing produced three $50,000-winning tickets in Ohio, offering some consolation to local players.
Monday night’s winning numbers were 23, 35, 59, 63, 68, and the Powerball was 2. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
The estimated cash value of the jackpot is $572.1 million. This marks only the second time in Powerball history that the game has seen back-to-back billion-dollar jackpots.
“Powerball has only seen back-to-back billion-dollar jackpots twice, and this one has arrived just in time for the holidays,” said Matt Strawn, Iowa Lottery CEO and Powerball Product Group Chair. Strawn also urged players to “play responsibly,” reminding them that a single $2 ticket gives you a chance to win, while also supporting good causes in your community.”
The odds of winning the jackpot remain daunting, at 1 in 292,201,338. Still, hope remains for players dreaming of a life-changing windfall this holiday season.
