Abu Dhabi: The IPL 2026 auction saw some intense bidding wars and record-breaking buys, with teams vying for the best talent to bolster their squads. Australian all-rounder Cam Green became the most expensive overseas player in IPL history after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured him for a staggering INR 24.80 crore after CSK bowed out at INR 25.20 crore.
The auction also witnessed fierce competition for uncapped Indian players. CSK secured Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma for INR 14.20 crore, making them joint-richest uncapped player in IPL auction. Delhi Capitals (DC) snagged Auqib Nabi Dar for INR 8.4 crore after a bidding war with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) acquired Naman Tiwari for INR 1 crore and Mukul Choudhary for INR 2.60 crore, while RR picked up Tejasvi Singh for INR 3 crore.
Other notable buys include Ravi Bishnoi, who was acquired by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 7.2 crore, and Matheesha Pathirana, who went to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 18 crore.
Several established players, including Devon Conway, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Chahal, and Deepak Hooda, went unsold. The auction saw a mix of strategic buys and surprising omissions, setting the stage for an exciting IPL 2026 season. Teams are now analyzing their squads and purse remaining to strategize for future player acquisitions.
