IPL 2026 Auction: Cameron Green Shatters Records as Top Stars Go Unsold

Abu Dhabi – The IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi witnessed a dramatic day of bidding, with Australian all-rounder Cameron Green fetching a record-breaking Rs 25.20 crore from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This makes him the most expensive overseas player in the history of the league.

While Green’s acquisition dominated headlines, the auction also saw significant spending on Indian talent. Venkatesh Iyer was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 7 crore, while leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi became the highest-priced Indian player so far, going to Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 7.20 crore.

However, the auction also saw some surprising snubs, with notable names like Liam Livingstone, Prithvi Shaw, and Sarfaraz Khan failing to attract bids.

KKR entered the auction with the largest purse of Rs 64.30 crore, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) followed with Rs 43.40 crore. Other notable sales include Auqib Dar to DC for Rs 8.40 crore, Prashant Veer to CSK for Rs 14.20 crore, Kartik Sharma to CSK for Rs 14.20 crore, and Matheesha Pathirana to KKR for Rs 18 crore.

The IPL 2026 is scheduled to take place between March 26 and May 31.
