Infopark Kochi Proposes Shift in SilverLine Rail Station Location

KOCHI, December 16, 2025 – Infopark Kochi has formally requested the Kerala government to relocate the planned SilverLine semi-high-speed rail station from its currently designated second phase to the more strategically advantageous third phase.

The proposal, submitted weeks prior amidst growing uncertainty surrounding the SilverLine project, highlights the potential benefits of integrating the station within Phase 3, a planned AI-driven township. This phase anticipates extensions of the Kochi Metro and Water Metro, alongside a proposed expressway, creating a more seamless multi-modal transit hub.

Currently, 45 acres within Infopark’s second phase are frozen for the SilverLine project, hindering development. Approving the relocation would free up approximately 29 acres for Infopark, alleviating a critical land shortage impacting over 100 companies awaiting allocation. Notably, the Muthoot Group has been impacted by the current land freeze and sought alternate land for development. The State Government has assigned them the remaining 6 acres available in phase two.

Infopark argues that the shift would optimize SilverLine’s integration with other transport networks and unlock significant land resources for much-needed IT development. If the SilverLine project is canceled, Infopark will regain control of the full 36 acres.
