Tue Dec 16 07:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Proteas Women Aim for Ruthless Finish Against Ireland After Series Win

Benoni, South Africa – Riding high on an unassailable 2-0 series lead against Ireland Women, the Proteas Women are looking to dominate and complete a series sweep in the final T20I match in Benoni today. All-rounder Chloe Tryon emphasized the team’s desire to be more “ruthless” after identifying areas for improvement in their performance during the second match at Boland Park.

“We wanted to dominate as much as we could prior to the series. I still think we can be a bit better,” Tryon told Independent Newspapers. She highlighted the team’s bowling during the middle overs as an area where Ireland managed to gain some ground. The Proteas aim to tighten their grip and “ask a lot of questions with the ball in hand” to keep the Irish batters under constant pressure.

The South African team has put on strong batting displays in the first two matches, reaching the 200-run mark in both Cape Town and Paarl. Tryon expressed hope that the wicket at Willowmoore Park in Benoni will support another high-scoring encounter. “Hopefully, tomorrow it’s high scoring again,” she stated, adding that they will assess the conditions upon arrival, regardless of whether they bat or bowl first.

Beyond the on-field performance, Tryon also spoke about the positive trend of women’s cricket in South Africa, fueled by the experience of playing in packed stadiums like Newlands in Cape Town and Boland Park in Paarl. “It was amazing… it felt like it was all over again,” she said, recalling the atmosphere of the 2023 World Cup. “I think people love cricket, and we just want to make sure that we keep bringing women’s cricket into those stadiums.”

The final T20I between South Africa Women and Ireland Women is scheduled to begin at 6pm today. The Proteas will be looking to deliver a dominant performance and send a strong message as they continue to build momentum for future competitions.
