West Bengal Election Watch: Voters Removed from Rolls Ahead of 2026 Elections
Kolkata, December 16, 2025 – Just hours before the release of the draft electoral rolls for West Bengal’s upcoming Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has published a list of voters removed from the rolls. The list, available on the commission’s website (ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/asd_sir), identifies individuals who were registered to vote in 2025 but have been removed from the 2026 draft.
According to ECI sources, over 5.8 million enumeration forms were deemed uncollectable, leading to the removal of these voters. Reasons for deletion include residents being absent from their registered addresses, permanently relocated, deceased, or identified as duplicate voters registered in multiple constituencies.
The release of the list comes as West Bengal prepares for Assembly elections scheduled for early next year. The state assembly has 294 members.
“Aggrieved persons can submit their claims in Form 6 along with the Declaration Form and supporting documents after publication of draft roll during the period fixed for receiving claims and objections i.e. 16/12/2025 till 15/01/2026,” the ECI stated on its website. This allows those who believe they were wrongly removed from the electoral rolls to appeal the decision.
