Dense Fog Triggers Deadly Pile-Up on Yamuna Expressway

Mathura, India – December 16, 2025 – A massive pile-up on the Yamuna Expressway near Mathura claimed the lives of four people and left over 25 injured early this morning. Dense fog conditions are being blamed for the multi-vehicle collision, which involved at least seven buses and several smaller vehicles.

The incident occurred around 4:30 AM under the Baldev Police Station jurisdiction. Low visibility caused a chain reaction, resulting in numerous vehicles crashing into each other. Some vehicles also caught fire, exacerbating the situation.

“The accident was a direct result of the extremely poor visibility caused by the heavy fog,” stated SSP Mathura Shlok Kumar. “All injured individuals have been transported to local hospitals for treatment.” Mathura Police further indicated on X that none of the injured are in critical condition.

Cranes were deployed to clear the charred remains of the vehicles and reopen the affected stretch of the expressway. Traffic diversions are in place as authorities work to restore normal traffic flow.
