Four Arrested in Connection to Fatal Brawl in Padukere

MANGALURU – December 15, 2025 – Udupi district police have apprehended four individuals in connection to the death of a young man, identified as Santosh, following an altercation in Padukere on Sunday night.

According to police reports, Santosh was with friends, including Sachin, Chetan, Kaushik, Srujan, and Darshan, at a local bar before they proceeded to Padukere Circle for food. Heated words were exchanged between Santosh and Darshan, Kaushik, Ankit, and Srujan near the circle. The situation escalated, resulting in Darshan, Kaushik, Ankit, and Srujan allegedly assaulting Santosh, who subsequently collapsed.

Rajat, a friend of the deceased, enlisted the help of others to transport Santosh to a private hospital in Brahmavar. Sadly, medical professionals pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Based on Rajat’s complaint, authorities arrested Darshan, 21, of Parampalli; Kaushik, 21, of Sastana; Ankit, 19, and Srujan, 21, both residents of Kotatattu. The suspects face charges under Sections 103, 115(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They were presented before a magistrate and have been remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.
