MG India Launches Facelifted Hector, Undercuts Previous Model with Aggressive Pricing
New Delhi, October 26, 2024 – MG Motor India has unveiled the latest facelift for its popular Hector SUV, boasting a refreshed design and a significantly lower starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). This marks a price reduction of Rs 2.1 lakh compared to the outgoing model, positioning the Hector as a strong contender in the competitive SUV market.
The updated Hector Plus 7-seater variant begins at Rs 17.29 lakh. Pricing for the 6-seater Hector Plus configurations is yet to be announced. Currently, MG has only revealed pricing for the petrol variants; details regarding the diesel models are expected to be released next year.
The 2024 Hector receives a visual refresh, featuring a new honeycomb-patterned grille, a redesigned front air dam, and updated 18-inch alloy wheels. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, new Celadon Blue and Pearl White exterior color options join the existing palette. Inside, the 5-seater Hector gets a dual-tone Ice Grey interior, while the 6/7-seater Hector Plus features a dual-tone tan cabin.
Technology upgrades include a revamped 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with MG’s iSwipe touch gesture control, allowing for easy climate and audio adjustments. The vehicle retains popular features such as a 7-inch driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera.
The Hector petrol models are powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 143hp and 250Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission. The anticipated diesel models are expected to carry over the 2.0-liter engine producing 170hp and 350Nm.
With this facelift, the MG Hector is set to compete head-on with rivals like the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass. The Hector Plus will challenge the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO, Hyundai Alcazar, and Tata Safari.
