Avaniyapuram, India – December 14, 2025 – A 65-year-old man from Puthupatti, Sivaganga district, was apprehended at the Avaniyapuram airport on Saturday, December 13, 2025, for allegedly possessing a forged passport. The incident occurred when immigration officials flagged inconsistencies in his travel documents as he attempted to board a flight to Dubai.

During questioning, the man admitted to obtaining a second passport with a falsified date of birth. He claimed to have worked in the Middle East for 25 years, returning to India in 2018 due to health issues. Unable to find new employment opportunities abroad due to his age, he fraudulently obtained a new passport in 2022. He allegedly altered his birth year from 1961 to 1976, making him appear significantly younger.
