Sun Dec 14 08:04:01 UTC 2025: Congress Holds Mega-Rally in Delhi, Accuses Government and Election Commission of ‘Vote Theft’

New Delhi – December 14, 2025 – The Congress party held a major rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi today, accusing the government and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding to manipulate elections. The rally, dubbed “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” (Steal Votes, Vacate the Throne), saw participation from top Congress leadership, including party President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and potentially Sonia Gandhi.

Congress leaders allege that the ECI is being politically misused, and constitutional institutions are being undermined. They claim a “Special Intensive Revision (SIR)” of electoral rolls is an attempt to disenfranchise poor, backward, Dalit voters, and traditional Congress supporters.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioned Congress’s silence on alleged vote rigging in Delhi Assembly elections, with President Saurabh Bharadwaj asking whether Rahul Gandhi would address the issue.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly countered the Congress’s claims, accusing them of politicizing the issue and attempting to protect illegal “infiltrators” from being removed from electoral rolls. BJP leaders like Sambit Patra, Yogender Chandoliya, Tarun Chugh and Praveen Khandelwal dismissed the rally as a gathering of “failed people” and accused Congress of lacking substantive issues to challenge PM Modi. They defended the integrity of India’s electoral process and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s response in Parliament.
