Sun Dec 14 08:40:00 UTC 2025: Headline: New Christmas Movie Roundup: From Jonas Brothers Hijinks to Winslet’s Directorial Debut

Christmas movie season is officially here, and a deluge of new films are vying for a spot in your festive viewing rotation. Our critic braved a marathon of holiday flicks to bring you the highlights and lowlights.

The Jonas Brothers’ Holiday Mishap: A whimsical start to the marathon was the Jonas Brothers movie. The pop trio find themselves stranded in the UK post-tour and must overcome a villainous Santa’s curse to rediscover their brotherly bond and make it home for Christmas. Good for fans but maybe not enjoyable for everyone.

Panto Pandemonium: Kiefer Sutherland stars as an action hero tricked into a British pantomime in the hilarious “Aladdin” themed movie. A strong supporting cast, including Rebel Wilson, Derek Jacobi, Meera Syal, and Danny Dyer, provides plenty of laughs, making it a fun Christmas watch.

Indian Scrooge: “Christmas Karma” puts a new spin on “A Christmas Carol” with Kunal Nayyar as an Indian Scrooge visited by the ghosts of Christmas. Unfortunately, Nayyar’s performance falls flat, hindering the film’s potential.

Lapland Bonus Blunder: A BBC comedy-drama special follows a man who receives a fake Christmas bonus and takes his family on a trip to Lapland. Enjoyable but forgettable, and stars Guz Khan and Morgana Robinson.

Parisian Romance: An ambitious executive finds love in Paris in this cosy Christmas romance, which delivers the warm and fuzzy feelings.

Finding Santa: A charming Channel 4 film centers on a boy who refuses to stop believing in Santa, aided by a team of scientific experts.

A Mother’s Holiday Story: An American family reunites for the holidays. There’s some cliches but a holiday movie for Moms.

Scottish Highlands Romance: For those craving classic Christmas cheese, look no further. A publisher travels to the Scottish Highlands and finds romance.

Winslet Directs and Stars: Kate Winslet’s directorial debut is an intimate family drama exploring a family struggling with cancer during Christmas time. The film features Helen Mirren and Toni Collette.

While there may not be any future classics in this year’s batch, these films offer a variety of options to get you into the holiday spirit.
