Mumbai, India – Mahindra has kicked off its teaser campaign for the XUV 7XO, the updated version of its flagship XUV700 SUV. The vehicle is slated for launch on January 5th, with pricing details expected shortly thereafter.
While retaining the overall silhouette of its predecessor, the XUV 7XO will feature design tweaks including a redesigned grille with larger air inlets, pod-like headlights, and C-shaped daytime running lights reminiscent of the XEV 9S EV. Reshaped bumpers and new alloy wheel designs are also expected.
Powering the XUV 7XO will be the same engine options as the current XUV700: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 200hp and a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing up to 185hp, both available with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. An all-wheel-drive variant is likely for the diesel model.
Inside, the SUV is expected to boast a triple-screen setup similar to the XEV 9S and 9e EVs, featuring a digital driver’s display and central and passenger-side touchscreens, all measuring 12.3 inches. The XUV 7XO is also expected to be equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite.
The XUV 7XO is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 14 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The vehicle will compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.
Mahindra has also trademarked the names XUV 1XO and XUV 5XO. The company already used XUV 3XO on a recently facelifted SUV. It remains to be seen if the two other trademarks are brought into use on future Mahindra SUVs.
